FAQs
Can I bring my own food to Hunky Dory?
No, sorry. Weaning babies under 1 year are permitted to bring in purees, but we do have pouches if you need it.
Do you have wheelchair access?
At the moment, wheelchair users can access the ground floor only. We have a disabled toilet on the ground floor and can serve food to these guests not able to access the cafe. As our building is 500 years old it is a real challenge finding a way to make the entire building wheelchair accessible while satisfying Grade 2 listed building requirements. We’re working on this and hope to have an answer soon and we really want to do more. Until this time, any child or adult who is a wheelchair user or has severe restricted mobility and is in receipt of a Blue Badge will get in FREE* (proof of Blue Badge required and must be accompanied by another paying person)
Where can we park?
The closest car parks are the Swan and Manor Car Parks and are just metres away from the entrance. You can pay by cash, RingGo or Pay by Phone. Alternatively, co-ordinate your visit with a trip to Sainsbury’s which is a 5-minute walk away and park for up to 2 hours for free!
Where can I leave my buggy/pram?
For hygiene and safety reasons it is always best to leave buggies, prams and pushchairs outside in our locked courtyard. However, on days of heavy rain collapsed buggies can be wheeled inside as long as they are away from the fire exit and play areas. Please note that you leave your buggies at your own risk.
Do you accept cash?
For safety and cleanliness, we are a cashless venue.
How long are your sessions?
Our play sessions vary, but run as open sessions during the week and 2 hours at weekend and school holidays. At weekends and school holidays we offer the facility to use our cafe once your play session has ended or before it starts (if you attend sessions 2 or 3)
*Stay Late/Arrive Early sessions are subject to availability, and cannot happen if we have an exclusive use party session. The best thing to do is to check our website to see if the session next to yours shows as “Sold out”.
Will I need socks?
Yes, we are a strict shoe-free zone due to health and safety requirements. Don’t worry, we have spare pairs to purchase if you forget – and you are also welcome to bring slippers!
Are you a COVID- safe venue?
Our way of operating has been designed with COVID safety in mind. We have a booking system which ensures it never gets too busy and uncomfortable and allows for social distancing. We have hand sanitisers on site and throw our large barn doors open whenever we can to enjoy the fresh air. We hope that we are saying goodbye to COVID in its most extreme form but recognise that the health and safety of our visitors and staff is paramount, pandemic or no pandemic. It probably goes without saying, but please do not attend if you are feeling poorly in any way or have had a positive covid test.
